The Caps Victory

Sports victories unite people. And if we’re not in on the celebration, we simply appropriate the other city’s win.

You would’ve thought cancer was cured Thursday as thousands of people spilled into the streets of DC to celebrate the Capitals Stanley Cup victory. People sang, danced and probably kissed. That’s what people do at parties. I don’t like parties.

It’s always a roll of the dice whether revelers will cross the line to rioting. It seems almost mandatory to set fires and overturn cars. If a riot is forecast, make sure you park in a garage. Cars never fare well in turmoil. There were no reports of destruction during the celebration.

The world can seem like a horrible place sometimes so I’m fine with people getting happiness where they can. Just don’t impose it on me.
