The Newspaper Massacre

Newspaper reporters go through life unnoticed. They don’t have the microphones, bright lights and big salaries of the top broadcast journalists in this country. Newspaper reporters don’t get much credit for the work they do. But without them, many of the stories that get wide coverage in the news would go unnoticed because they would never be uncovered. For the most part, newspapers are breaking those stories.

Even after the newsroom massacre at The Capital-Gazette, colleagues of the dead and injured continued reporting. Nothing would stop them from delivering the facts to readers–Not even a mass murder around them. Even though everyone would understand if they would miss a day, nothing would stop the Capital-Gazette reporters from publishing a paper on Friday–Not even the alleged actions of an angry man who launched this attack on journalism. Incredible.
